Hi, I’m Blaine Adams with AIC Roofing, and today I’m going to talk to you about the seven signs you may need to replace the gutters on your home.

1\. Sagging Gutters

Number one: your existing gutters are sagging. Older gutters often accumulate debris, and that debris weighs them down and causes them to collect water. The water is heavy, so it pulls the gutters down until they begin to sag and ultimately pull away from your home.

2\. Rusting Gutters

Number two: rusting. Older gutters were often made of metals that rust and degrade over time, which can compromise your entire gutter system.

3\. Cracks in the Seams and Corners

Number three: cracks in the seams and corners. Over time, gutters tend to separate at the corners and seams. This can cause further deterioration of your gutters and ultimately damage to your home.

4\. Gutters Pulling Away from Your Home

Number four: the gutter is pulling away from your home. Sometimes we notice gutter sections have started pulling off the fascia board and are sloping downward toward the ground. If that’s the case, it’s definitely a red flag that you need a gutter replacement.

5\. Gutter Spikes in Your Lawn

Number five: finding gutter spikes in your lawn. As gutters begin to pull away from the fascia board, the gutter spikes often fall out, and you’ll start finding them in your lawn and landscaping.

6\. Pools of Water Near Your Foundation

Number six: you have pools of water near the foundation of your home. This is a clear sign that your gutter system isn’t doing its job and that water is running off your roof and collecting next to your home.

7\. Peeling Paint or Mildew

Number seven: peeling paint or mildew on the exterior walls of your home. A faulty gutter system will often let water run down the walls, which leads to mildew or peeling paint. If you’re seeing either one on your home, you may want to have a reputable contractor give you an estimate for new gutters.
