If you have gutter guards, remove them before the replacement happens. It’s very common for gutter guards to get damaged during a replacement and these can almost never be salvaged. It’s also wise to cover anything valuable in your attic and secure fragile items on your walls. Move your furniture away from your house and make sure to mow your lawn in advance so cleanup is easier.

The average lifespan of a shingle roof is 20-25 years, assuming there’s not significant damage or other reasons for premature roof failure. As long as your roof was installed correctly by a reputable roofing contractor and with high quality materials, your roof should last for at least 20 years.
