Frequently Asked Questions About Siding

No, we do not. If you have asbestos siding, it will need to be abated.

Builder grade siding is a basic material often used by general contractors. It has a lower quality and lower cost than higher quality siding. At AIC, our preferred siding manufacturers are Norandex, Alside, and James Hardie.

The length of time your siding’s color will last depends on the type of siding and the manufacturer.

Installation time depends on the size of the house, but we complete most siding projects in 1-5 days. You can learn more about our siding installation process and timelines in this blog!

Siding can last anywhere from 15-50 years, depending on the type of siding and external factors. The lifespan of new siding is impacted by various factors, such as exposure to wind, rain, and sunlight. It also depends on the material used. For instance, vinyl siding generally does not last as long as fiber cement siding.

R-value is the measure of insulation rating and shows how well the insulation prevents heat from entering or exiting the building. A higher R-value usually means better climate control and energy efficiency, which is also usually better quality and more expensive.

Our labor warranty is up to 10 years. We also have manufacturer warranties, and the length of those warranties depend on which manufacturer you use. Manufacturer warranties could be up to 30 years or even longer.

While some companies and contractors will do this, we will not install new siding over existing siding. We remove the old siding to make sure the structure itself is in good condition. Removing the old siding before installing the new siding also keeps the new siding’s warranty intact.
